To the Editor:
We have read with attention the excellent work of Trisolini and associates1
regarding predictor variables for transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) yield in sarcoidosis that was published in the April 2008 issue of the Journal. Regarding the results from the analysis of our experience in mediastinal and hilar lymph node TBNA in sarcoidosis, we have a few comments. In a 10-year period, we performed TBNA in 82 different lymph nodes in 57 patients with stage I or II sarcoidosis using a 19-gauge histology needle (MW-319; Bard-Wang, Billerica, Mass) in most of the cases (93%).
